Hello All. I have to get up in a few hours to go to work, I start at 5 tomorrow, so I'm thinking about staying up for the majority of the night and taking a little nap for the rest. Regardless, being up so late at night, alone, gives me plenty of time to think. I think more clearly at night. The city is finally quiet--oh wait, I jinxed myself. It sounds like the neighbors just threw a shoe very hard onto the floor-our ceiling. Anyway, it's a bit quieter now, allowing time for peaceful thoughts. We've been worried lately about fixing up our house. We know that we are fortunate (I won't say blessed, people who do not have a house are not less blessed) to be making this journey and, for crying out loud!, of course it's going to be tough!! But it's difficult to keep control of the finances when we want to make many changes to the house in the first couple of months! One room at a time, one can of paint at a time, one trip to Home Depot at a time...
It's very easy to get overly-zealous with home projects. What with all the latest styles and fads, organic this, stainless that, (oh, excuse me, bronze is the new stainless) --when I know full well that waiting is always better than immediate gratification. Better to look forward to the changes and enjoy the process instead of racking up credit cards, eh? Don't worry mom and dad, you trained us well.

Waiting
Though I realize that April 10 (mark it on your calendar folks) is just weeks away, it seems that it will never arrive. However, when I really think about it, the to-do list is growing and the timeframe ever shrinking. But now, right now, we are in this weird hiatus of, well, waiting.
It's odd having a lawyer. We receive letters and calls periodically just to let us know what to expect at closing--stuff like that. Comforting in a way, but odd.
At this point I've taken many self-researched crash courses for the several DIY projects ahead. These include but are not limited to: ripping out carpet, ripping out tile, removing wallpaper, installing newer outlets, tearing out built in shelves, painting, installing a mantle, resealing a toilet, tiling the upstairs bathroom floor, and my personal favorite, laying hardwood floors on the main floor. Phew! I can't wait because it's going to be awesome when it's all said and done!
